Name: Dr. Andres Guerra
Major: Civil Engineering E-board Position: Advisor Andrés has been the faculty advisor for the Colorado School of Mines Chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers since 2012. He enjoys this opportunity to get to know Mines students outside of the classroom and work with different departments across campus aimed at promoting inclusive excellence. Growing up in New Mexico where Hispanic, American Indian, and European cultures have mixed over many years, Andrés developed a strong appreciation for the values that each culture can offer and how those cultures can intertwine to create a better community. “Delicious New Mexican cuisine,” Andrés says, “is the great example of great things that are created by mixing.” Andrés currently teaches courses in civil engineering and enjoys spending time with his family, playing basketball, hunting, and fly-fishing. He is a registered civil engineer in the State of Colorado and obtained his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering from Colorado School of Mines. ___ [email protected] |
